Si è svolto all’Hotel Sina Villa Medici di Firenze il 04/04/24 l’evento di presentazione dell’ultimo lavoro di Rossano B. Maniscalchi: IT’S NOT DARK YET.
Il film è un “corto” che racconta la storia di Jasmine, una ragazza oppressa da un padre tradizionale, in un contesto patriarcale, che progressivamente prende coscienza della situazione e riesce a conquistare la sua autonomia, liberandosi dei condizionamenti.
E’ la storia di una donna, che rappresenta tante situazioni analoghe, che sono alla radice delle violenze che purtroppo leggiamo quotidianamente.
Il fotografo di “celebrity” Maniscalchi è ormai diventato un regista che ha già ottenuto tanti riconoscimenti in tante parti del mondo, ed ha trasferito la sua esperienza di qualità dell’immagine nella nuova avventura cinematografica; pertanto non staremo a sottolineare di nuovo la qualità dell’immagine ed il livello professionale eccellente del prodotto. Più importante è notare una “diversificazione” dell’offerta del regista, che in questo caso si sposta dai “fashion movie” ai film con tematica sociale. In questo caso lo spunto viene dal tema della violenza sulle donne, ma la narrazione trova aspetti di originalità, che fanno l’unicità del prodotto, nel raccontare una storia positiva, cioè un film che afferma il diritto della donna a scegliere la propria vita, e non il “solito” film “contro” la violenza.
Un film per la dignità della donna! Dovrebbe essere una cosa ovvia, ma purtroppo, anche nelle società più avanzate, non lo è ancora. Non vorremmo definirlo un manifesto, sarebbe riduttivo per un’opera d’arte, ma sicuramente un prodotto anche “educativo”. Un messaggio universale, uno stimolo, una proposta di riflessione. Peraltro con musiche molto belle, originali e molto adatte alle scene, che meriterebbero un premio (a cura di Alberto Maria Gennuso). La sceneggiatura è a cura di Serena Del Nero (art director).
Il regista inizia e finisce il filmato con immagini di Firenze, dove il film è girato: un omaggio alla sua città, ed ai luoghi significativi dove sono state girate le scene, il Gabinetto Vieussieux (con la Sala Ferri), all’interno di Palazzo Strozzi. e l’hotel Sina Villa Medici.
Quest’ultimo ha ospitato l’evento di presentazione, alla presenza del cast, della stampa e delle autorità locali. Una serata emozionante, dove il regista ha ripercorso le sue tappe con i trailers dei suoi film, arricchita da una sfilata di moda di Roberto Baldi . Ha presentato la serata Valentina Battini, che si è pure esibita in un recital di un brano di Alda Merini.
Una serata che ha entusiasmato tutti i presenti, comprese le autorità, che finalmente hanno “scoperto” una risorsa della loro città.

The premiere event for Rossano B. Maniscalchi’s latest work, “IT’S NOT DARK YET,” took place at the Hotel Sina Villa Medici in Florence on April 4, 2024.
The film is a short that tells the story of Jasmin, a young woman oppressed by a traditional father in a patriarchal context. As she becomes increasingly aware of her situation, she manages to assert her autonomy and break free from conditioning.
It’s the story of a woman who represents many similar situations, which unfortunately underlie the violence we read about daily. Photographer and “celebrity” Maniscalchi has now become a director who has already received numerous accolades worldwide. He has brought his expertise in image quality to this new cinematic adventure. Rather than emphasizing the image quality and excellent professional level of the product, what’s more important is noting the director’s diversification from “fashion movies” to films with social themes.
In this case, the inspiration comes from the theme of violence against women, but the narrative offers original aspects that make the product unique. It tells a positive story—one that affirms a woman’s right to choose her own life—rather than the usual “anti-violence” film.
This film is about women’s dignity! It should be obvious, but unfortunately, even in the most advanced societies, it isn’t yet. We hesitate to call it a manifesto; that would be reductive for a work of art. However, it is undoubtedly an educational product. A universal message, a stimulus, a proposal for reflection. Additionally, the beautiful and original music, well-suited to the scenes, deserves recognition (curated by Alberto Maria Gennuso). The screenplay is by Serena Del Nero (art director).
Especially noteworthy is the dramatic voice of the lead actress provided by experienced German TV, film and voice actress Jo Kern, who donated her time because of her belief in the film’s important message.
The director begins and ends the footage with images of Florence, where the film is shot: a tribute to his city and the significant locations where the scenes were filmed—the Vieussieux Cabinet (with the Ferri Hall) inside Palazzo Strozzi and the Sina Villa Medici hotel.
The hotel hosted the presentation event, attended by the cast, the press, and local authorities. An exciting evening where the director revisited his journey through trailers of his films, enriched by a fashion show by Roberto Baldi. The evening was hosted by Valentina Battini, who also performed a recital of a piece by Alda Merini.
It was a night that thrilled everyone present, including the authorities, who finally “discovered” a resource in their city.
